The Cozy Coupe

Apparently, Chris's obsession with cars (and yes, it IS an obsession) started at a fairly young age. There are stories of the obvious matchbox car love, something about sleeping with a tire, and the first car he could drive- the Cozy Coupe. That little plastic car was born in 1979 (the same year as Chris, must be kismet) and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2009 with a special edition version (the same year James was born). Can you see where this is headed? I'm pretty sure James was destined for the Cozy Coupe from the time we learned we were having a boy, and it doesn't help that he appears to be as obsessed with cars as his father. Who am I to fight such a destiny? So, on Father's Day 2010, the Shenk Family got it's newest member. We are now the proud owners of a Special Edition 30th Anniversary Edition Little Tikes Cozy Coupe and James has promptly forgotten he ever loved anything else.

Shenk Family Reunion

Our Shenk Family took a weekend trip to Harrisonburg, Virginia to meet up with other Shenk Families to celebrate being one big Shenk Family. Dan and Naomi Shenk did an incredible job hosting and ensuring that a good time was had by all! James had a wonderful time with his cousins, who kept him entertained (thanks, guys!), while Chris enjoyed driving some of the kids on the go-cart (an excuse to drive it for sure) and Jill lounged on the grass with some of the other moms and chatted about the kids. It was a wonderful weekend, albeit a quick one. Here are just a few of the millions of pictures taken...

First Hike of 2010

Warmth has finally arrived in Utah! Woo hoo! It seems we might actually get to spend some time outdoors now in warm-weather apparel... wait, did I just jinx us by saying that?
To celebrate this properly, the Shenk Family (and Grandpa Landers) headed up American Fork Canyon for a little hike. Nothing strenuous, just something to get us up in the mountains to enjoy the quiet of nature (until James arrived anyway).
