May 2018

May of 2018 brought lots of lovely weather with some fun time outside, a Mother's Day trip to St. Augustine, great times with friends, and an adults-only Memorial Day weekend trip to Nashville.

James is always happy to help push Ellie in her swing.
Stealing some kisses from my girl.
My heart melts at these two. Total devotion.
Happy Chris and his baby girl.
Just hanging out with the best tree in Florida and the world's best dog.
James worked very hard to create a handmade doll's skirt for one of his
dearest friends' birthday. He sewed the entire thing by hand. So proud of him!
Building block towers for her to knock down.

Mother's Day weekend we traveled to St. Augustine with our travel trailer, staying at the local KOA. We love that little city and had a great time all together spending time at the beach and exploring the historic area as well. The food scene is surprisingly fantastic there!

Sunset walk at the beach after dinner on Friday night.
This is one of my favorite pictures of James. Just a moment walking along the beach.

Saturday we spent the day just relaxing and playing at the beach all together.

Ellie was fascinated by the water and the sand.
Those eyes! You'll notice the sand spread across her face as she continually tried to eat it.
My sweet kiddos.
James had a blast boogie-boarding and playing in the waves.
Daddy steals some kisses from his girl.
Leo got to run and splash and have a great time at the beach as well.
Beach days are exhausting.

Sunday, Mother's Day, we spent the day in the downtown area, enjoying a yummy brunch with a view of the river and exploring the historic fort.

Strolling the streets of St. Augustine with my babies.
James sees a wide open space and he must run in it.
Happy Mother's Day to me! I'm a very lucky momma.

My lovely and dear friend, Jess, took me horseback riding for my birthday (a little late but totally worth waiting for). I highly recommend the experience if you're in the central Florida area-- Hidden Palms Ranch.

Jess and I, cowgirls of Orlando.
Making friends.
This little stinker is on the move-- crawling all over the place.
Not exactly the way it was intended to be used, but fun for her nonetheless.

Chris's parents enjoyed a fun weekend with the grandkids while Chris and I escaped to Nashville for some child-free fun over Memorial Day. We stayed at a really great B&B, the Germantown Inn, walked all over downtown and Music Row, and took a side trip out to The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson. Of course, no trip to Nashville is complete without live music and we enjoyed the blues at B.B. King's one night and bluegrass at The Station Inn the next night. And we ate. A lot. Really great food to be had in Nashville.

This little inn was so neat and the service was fantastic! We can't wait to go back again.
Loved this mural on a parking garage. Art can enhance even the most mundane of buildings.
Drinking my morning coffee in the peace and quiet of the courtyard. Such a treat.
So. Many. Choices.
They had some really cool vintage instruments and it was neat just to read the labels.
Enjoying the bluegrass at The Station Inn. It was a jam night where anyone could play.
So much talent and so fun to watch.
The front of The Hermitage. It is beautifully preserved and such a great piece of history.
The grounds of The Hermitage are beautiful and include important history about the lives of the slaves there.
Happy to be heading out on a date. 💕
While we were away, James worked on his frisbee skills...
... and Ellie learned to stand on her head.
Home is still our favorite place to be.
Tanya and I trade daughters so I get to cuddle sweet Gigi and she tries to corral squirmy Ellie. Ha!
Ellie turned 8 months old and she doesn't look that impressed with the accomplishment.
We, on the other hand, think she's amazing and can't wait to see what the next month brings.
